Which cookies and similar technologies the KenGen Procurement Portal uses, why we use them, how long they last, and how you can control them.
1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage and IndexedDB, store information in the same way. We call them all "cookies" in this policy.
Some cookies are strictly necessary: the website cannot work, or cannot be kept secure, without them. Others, such as analytics cookies, are optional, and under the Data Protection Act, 2019 we only use them if you agree.
2. Your Choice
When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Analytics stays switched off until you opt in, and rejecting it is as easy as accepting it. We remember your choice for about six months, then ask again. We also ask again if we change the cookies we use.

3. Strictly Necessary Cookies
These are always on, because the website needs them to work securely. They are not used to track you.

4. Analytics Cookies (Optional)
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit, which pages they use and where the portal could be clearer. The information is aggregated and we do not use it to identify you, for advertising, or to build a profile of you.

5. Cookies We Do Not Use
- We do not use advertising, retargeting or social-media tracking cookies.
- We do not sell information collected by cookies or share it for marketing.
- Links to external systems such as the e-GP and supplier portals simply open those sites; their own cookie policies apply there.
6. Controlling Cookies in Your Browser
Besides the cookie settings on this website, most browsers let you see, block and delete cookies and site data. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the portal, such as staff sign-in, from working. Guidance for common browsers:

7. Changes to This Policy
We update this policy when the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If we add optional cookies, we will ask for your consent again before using them.
